What we do
As a professional association we promote the understanding of relationships between geosciences and the technology of exploring and producing fossil and renewable energies.
We take position on current issues in geosciences and energy provision. We do this through consultations, by giving talks and by publishing articles. The objective of these activities is to give more weight to scientific findings and facts and to conduct the discussions on energy on a rational basis.
We exchange our views with other related associations.
We organize each year a scientific meeting in Switzerland or abroad in the vicinity of the Swiss border, coupled with geosciences excursions that are led by renowned domestic and foreign experts (2½ days, second half of June). Partners are very welcome at the meeting and excursions.
- For students the participation at the annual conventions is free except for travel and hotel expenses.
We publish, together with the Swiss Group for Engineering Geology, the ‚Swiss Bulletin for Applied Geology' with scientific contributions and information on the association.
We organise lecture programmes in cooperation with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).
